Tim worked with the Aurukun Rangers from the Cairns TAFE Ranger Program to interview, research and produce this 40 minute radio documentary for the Aurukun Shire Council and the Aurukun Community Incorporation in 1991. Recollections by Elders of Stories passed down the ages of the – coming of the Dutches – in the early seventeenth century and the spearing of nine dutchmen; along with Wik Stories and the establishment of the Presbyterian Mission are covered in a way that Wik people of Aurukun could give an insight into their traditional way of life and some of their experiences as an Indigenous community on the isolated west coast of Cape York Peninsula, far North Queensland.
*Warning – Aurukun people are advised that the voices of elder’s who have passed away can be heard in this presentation.
