Educational Resource Series

146 Pages, PDF Digital Download
Who were the people who lived in Tropical North Queensland before the arrival of Europeans? How did they live in the rainforest and sea country, and what sort of culture did they develop?
Bama Bulmba gives an accessible and fascinating introduction to the way of life of the Bama, the Indigenous Australian Rainforest people of Tropical North Queensland, prior to the advent of European settlement from 1864, and onwards to more recent times.
This book in the series looks more closely at Buluwanydji tribe of south side of the Barron River from Freshwater Creek to Tinaroo and the Djabuganydji tribe on the north side of the Barron River to the Mowbray River south of Port Douglas. The original lifestyle of the tribes and the impacts of colonisation are presented together with an insight into their remarkable use of their tropical rainforest environment.
Historian Dr Timothy Bottoms has been researching and writing on Rainforest Aboriginal People as well as Far North Queensland history for over thirty-five years.
